CONTRACT AND GRADING POLICY

 

Physical Education
Contract

During all Physical Education classes, students are required to actively participate to the best of his/her ability with a positive attitude and respect to their classmates and the teachers.

Students Responsibilities:

  • Enter & exit locker room from the hallway!
  • Be in the locker room within the 3 minutes given for passing.
  • Going back to a locker or classroom to retrieve clothing is not permitted.
  • Be prepared with a change of clothing (McGee activity shirt, shorts, socks, sneakers, sweatshirt, sweatpants).
  • A lock & locker will be issued to each student. They should not be shared with other students.
  • Lock up the lockers at all times. Missing or lost locks will be reported to Mrs. Germain, Mr. Plona, or Mr. Eagle immediately. A school lock will be reissued for a $5.00 charge.
  • Using a lock from home is not permitted.
  • Jewelry must be removed before class and safely secured in lockers.
  • Be in attendance seat within 4 minutes from the beginning of the period.
  • Remain in the locker room until the bell rings at the end of each period.
  • A note from a parent/guardian is required for an excusal from gym class. A doctor’s note is required for absences due to medical reasons. Grades will not be affected for medical excuses.
 

Physical Education
Daily Self-Assessment Policy

Students will receive a number grade each class. Students will be able to assess their own grade level each class. The grade can be a maximum of 5 points, and a minimum of 0 points. Physical education teachers will also give students grades with additional feedback.

Grade of 5 points
Positive participation/demonstrates enthusiasm
Follows directions/willingness to work & learn
Shows respect for other students & teachers
Cooperates/works well with all students & teachers
Shows good sportsmanship


Deduct one or more points for the following:
For being inattentive/talkative during class
For lack of effort
For being off task/unable to follow directions
For lack of self discipline/control/motivation
For inappropriate language


Grade of 0
Unprepared with gym clothes and/or sneakers
Chewing gum before, during, or after class
Wearing jewelry during class
Disruptive or abusive behavior


4 DAYS OF GRADE “0” RESULTS IN FAILURE FOR THAT MARKING PERIOD
