Reading: We have completed the alphabet through Yy. Continued practice on letter formations through y. Practice identifing words that begin with the /y/ sound. Also work on isolating the ending sound in a word.
Journals: Writing about spring.
Math: We continue to work on counting sets to 20 as well as creating sets up to 20. We continue to practice solid geometry with identifing 3 solid shapes.
1. cubes
2. spheres
3. cylinders
Making Meaning: We have begun a new unit on "Wondering". Using the story A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats our students were asked to wonder how the characters are feeling, what might the characters be saying to each other, what might happen next.......etc. When you are reading a story at home try to stop and have your child retell the story. Remember to have your child use the character names, not he/she. A retell is not a summary, it is as if you are a story teller telling the story without reading it.

Reminders:
Return parent conference forms.

Areas to practice at home:
1. Practice reading our sight words.
