ORT

ORT is wasted food. At Nature’s Classroom we were trying to waste as little as possible. Ort does not stand for anything. It is a word. Ort came from medevil times and refers to the leftovers that were fed to servants. Our highest Ort amount was 14 ½ lbs. Amazingly, for one day we got 1 ¾ pounds for all three meals. On the last day for lunch we got ¾ pounds, giving Willard 2007 a spot in the Ort Hall of Fame.

“It’s time for the Ort Report, Baby! Ahh, mittens. Oh, Ah, the Ort Report, I said Oh, Ah, Ort Report, Shaky, Shaky, Shaky.”

Something’s Up in the Sky at Nature’s Classroom!!

The water rocket class is having tons of fun. They have successfully launched their rockets and had a BLAST! While the students were experimenting we pulled over Meg and asked a few questions.

Question 1: Why do you like doing this?
Answer 1: “Because I am still very young and here I can be a child.”

Question 2: What do you like to do better, hands-on or lecture?
Answer 2: “Hands-on and getting down and dirty.”

Question 3: What’s your favorite thing to do while teaching water rockets?
Answer 3: “Launch all of the rockets!”

                                          The Amazing Eye Dissection

Today we observed the eye dissection with Ranger and his classmates. Ranger said that he picked this subject because he thought that the eye is very interesting and cool to look at. Holly said that she picked eye dissection because she thought it would be fun to learn.

We asked Ranger how does it make you feel about using a animal’s eye??? Ranger does not mind because they would never kill an animal just for the dissection.

By Kayla and Allison Mysterious Rainbows

We interviewed Stephanie during their rainbow connection class. Stephanie said, “I think that Rainbows have so many colors because colors refract from the light.” She also said that, “I am interested in color and light because I like nature and art.” We also asked her when she saw her first rainbow and she said that, “I saw it when I was 24 and I loved it.” So that is all with our interview with Stephanie.

Dear Kerri,
I am so annoyed with my older brother! He is always bragging about incredibly smart he is! He is always putting me down with my own grades! What should I do?
	-Not so smart

Dear Not so smart,
I feel your pain. But, you need to deal with this problem yourself. Study harder to show your brother that you are just as smart as he is. Just remember not to put him down!
	-Kerri
Dear Kerri,
I am so tired of having to stay home because I didn’t clean my room! My room is always covered. It’s huge and if it’s not spotless I get grounded! I need a quick and easy way to clean up my room.
	-Messy

Dear Messy,
I know that it feels bad to have to miss something special. I personally have learned that to keep a room clean, don’t let the junk build up! Clean your room regularly and there won’t be as much work!
	-Kerri
Dear Kerri,
There is a really sweet girl in my class that wants to be friends with me. Every time I try to talk to her she is really mean and stuck up. I want to be her friend but she is too mean for me. Why does she so this?
	-Confused about friends

Dear Confused,
I know that it’s confusing, but people get shy. A way to get rid of this feeling for some people is to be mean. See if she wants to be friends and if you want to be friends with her play with her!
