McGee Wrestling
Eligibility Policy

A number of factors determine who gets a wrestling match, and how many. I hope the following information is helpful to you.

First - The coaching staff constructs a list of eligible wrestlers based on the McGee All-Star Wrestling Program. The staff also considers injured wrestlers, or any wrestlers being disciplined.

Second - Once a list of eligible wrestlers has been created, 15 varsity wrestlers will be selected based upon a system called "wrestle offs" held at practice. These varsity spots must also fall into a weight class. Wrestlers must be below the weight category they wish to wrestle. For example: If a wrestler weighs 106 pounds, he/she may wrestle in the 112, 117, or the 122 pound weight class. Wrestlers may only wrestle up two weight classes from their actual weight. The varsity weight classes are listed below.

Third - After 15 varsity matches have been set up, coaches will do everything possible to get all eligible wrestlers a match in the junior varsity competition. Coaches will match wrestlers up in competition based on weight, grade, strength, technique, experience, and toughness. Based on that criteria, some wrestlers may not get a match.
Please remember - Every effort will be made to get all eligible wrestlers a match. Concern for safety always comes first. The coaching staff will never wrestle a child if there is a potential for injury. If you have questions during the season, please contact the coaching staff.
A match list is available for parents and spectators at every match. This will represent the matches in the order that they will be wrestled. Please remember this list can change at anytime. Additions and or deletions occur often due to fatigue or injury.
